Forensic psychologists study problems of crime prevention, rehabilitation programs in prisons, courtroom dynamics, psychology and the law, and issues related to effective policing. Over the last 20 years, the field of forensic psychology has maintained a steady growth rate. It is expected that over the next 10 years, consultation, research work, and clinical practice in psychology and the law will continue to grow. Positions working with lawmakers, attorneys, and the courts are predicted to have the highest demand. Changing laws and the development of new ways to deal with juvenile offenders have become prevalent topics within the field.
Forensic psychologists work at the intersection between psychology and law. Becker College’s bachelor’s degree in psychology with a focus in forensic psychology challenges students to apply their research skills, psychological knowledge and critical thinking abilities to a variety of issues facing the legal system.
