Introduction:

Dr. Robert E. Johnson is an experienced and energetic leader who has dedicated his more than 25-year career to transforming the lives of young people and helping them to pursue their dreams. Since taking the role of tenth president of Becker College in July 2010, he has raised the College’s institutional profile and challenged the College community to educate students who can compete in a global society.

Through his leadership and collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and community leaders, Dr. Johnson has advanced an agenda of strategic goals aimed at inspiring innovative, entrepreneurial initiatives that augment the College’s rich history and delivering a transformational educational experience to every student.

By instilling within the Becker College experience the three pillars of global citizenship: academic excellence, social responsibility, and creative expression, he has challenged students to not only become global citizens, but to rise to the top of their chosen careers.

Dr. Johnson believes in the power of transformational leadership, possibility thinking, and building partnerships and collaborations. In 2011, Becker College was designated as the home of the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (Mass DiGI), a statewide center facilitating cooperation and innovation among the digital games industry, the public sector, and academia.

An involved community leader, Dr. Johnson serves on the boards of a variety of area nonprofits and was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to the board of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. He has made numerous presentations to corporations, organizations, and institutions on the topics of leadership, strategic marketing and planning, personal brand, diversity, higher education, and volunteerism.

Brief introduction:

Good (morning, afternoon, evening) and welcome.  I’d like to thank you all for coming. It is my pleasure to introduce to you Becker College President, Dr. Robert E. Johnson.  Since taking office in July 2010, President Johnson has proven to be both a dynamic and visionary leader, having already done remarkable things for Becker, the region and the Commonwealth in a short time. His enthusiasm and fortitude are unyielding, and contagious, and we are very proud to have such a leader in blazing new trails at Becker College and in the larger community.  Ladies and gentleman, I present to you Becker College’s tenth president, Dr. Robert E. Johnson.
