Lab Monitor Coordinator: Applicants must have worked for at least one previous semester as a lab monitor at Becker College and be a design major. Responsibilities include: organizing schedules for the labs; being the first point of contact via email from lab monitors for lab problems; missed shifts, etc.; and fixing and/or reporting any issues with the hardware, software, and peripherals for the labs.

Lab Monitor Mac: Applicants must have worked for at least one previous semester as a lab monitor, be a design major, have familiarity with Macs or a proof of desire, and the ability to learn quickly. Lab monitors for the Mac design lab are expected to be familiar with a majority of the design software used in their specific degree program (graphic, interior, or game design) and comfortable working with the computers. Lab monitors provide assistance to students in the design programs with basic software questions, troubleshoot the computers and network/Internet connections, and assist with printer, scanner, and tablet use. Lab monitors also must inspect each computer station in the lab at the end of a shift and report via email any software/hardware/network issues. Further responsibilities of this position include the general upkeep of the lab as well as enforcement of rules, such as not permitting food or drink nor allowing the printing of any materials other than design course work.

Website Updater: One student in each design major (graphic, interior, game) is required, and each must have significant website experience. The updater will be in charge of adding content to the websites on a weekly basis. Some research and design work will be required each week. The ability to work with Dreamweaver and upload content is required.

Design Program Promoter: The person in this position is responsible for creating promotional material for the design departments, such as podcasts, YouTube videos, Flash banners, etc. Applicant must be a design major, outgoing, creative, and able to work independently.

Video Game Reviewer: A team of three is required to produce a five-minute YouTube video each week reviewing a current video game. We will work the first two weeks developing a review outline, setting up recording specs, and working out details, but the team is expected to work independently thereafter.

QA Supervisor: The supervisor is in charge of a team of 10 full-time game testers. Responsibilities include developing a QA review form for alpha and beta releases, scheduling testing times in labs, getting playables, and submitting feedback. This position requires technical expertise, significant game design and development experience (must be a junior or senior game major), excellent organizational skills, and reliability.

QA Tester: Testers, who do not need to be game majors, are expected to be available each week to play test video games. Play testing will involve playing games repeatedly – games which are not necessarily feature-complete or bug-free – so do not apply if you are only interested in having fun. Testers must be strong written and verbal communicators; their main responsibility is to provide meaningful feedback.

The IT department is looking for computer-savvy and detailed-oriented students to work with IT operations staff in support of Becker College’s technology needs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting user hardware- and software-related problems, building new PCs, and assisting with server and networking projects. Operating hours for the Ruska Library are: 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Friday; 2:00 - 11:00 p.m., Sunday. Two hours are allowed per shift; three shifts are allowed per week.
Please contact Donna Sibley between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to arrange a brief interview. All students selected for work study are required to attend a mandatory training.
