Let’s go for a walk!

Join the Road Bowl Walking Challenge beginning August 1st, 2016.

Show your colleagues what you’re made of—and get some exercise while you’re at it! All walkers will combine their steps and walk from Cooperstown, New York to Phoenix, Arizona and visit sports venues across the United States. The challenge will continue for four weeks. Every step counts: steps on your walks at lunch, after work, on weekends, while you work out, or mow the lawn. You’ll be able to log your steps each week on the google doc form, and you will be sent an update of each teams progress.

Everyone who joins will be on a team. Teams should consist of five people max.  To track your steps you can use devices like your fitbit, Apple Watch, or an old fashioned pedometer.  Walkers can also use apps like M7 Pedometer, Pedometer++, or Argus.

Just walk as much as you can and log in all of your activity for the day. Find work friends and colleagues (employees only) from Becker College who would like to be part of your team. Once you have a team set, have an elected team leader email Kelsey Briggs with team name and names of all the team members.

Teams must register by Wednesday July 27, 2016.

Competition among all teams:

Grand prize: Team with the highest number of steps

The grand prize in the competition will be given to the team that averages the highest number of steps walked during the entire five-week challenge. The winning team will split the value of $500 in gift cards.

Scores will be tallied by taking the total number of steps for each team and dividing that number by the number of people on the team. (For example, Team A walked a total of 300,000 steps and had 5 members: 300,000/5 = 60,000. Team A has a final score of 60,000.)

As Becker College prepares for the Road Bowl Walking Challenge, we would like to encourage everyone to start thinking about their teams and motivating others to join or create a team.  Let’s make this Becker’s healthiest year! Together there’s nothing we can’t accomplish!
