225th Commencement Anniversary
This fall, Becker College President Robert E. Johnson, Ph.D., announced the launch of the College’s 225th Commencement Anniversary.
For 225 years, Becker College has been dedicated to providing a relevant, connected, and engaged collegiate experience, and celebrating the accomplishments and achievements of our graduates. Our remarkable journey began with the founding of two institutions—Leicester Academy and Becker’s Business School—and has encompassed the union of these two schools, incredible growth, and sustained commitment to delivering an education that transforms each student and prepares them to be global citizens. Although much has changed for over two centuries—including our name—our passion for providing an experience that leads to personal and professional success has never wavered.
Our anniversary theme, “Celebrating a History of Changing Lives,” focuses on all that has made Becker College great—its people, its programs, and its growth, as well as the impact its graduates have had upon the world.
In the months leading up to our 225th Commencement—May 11, 2013—there will be a number of events and activities on campus, including a rotating historic display in the new George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Campus Center, located on our Leicester Campus.
Please visit this site often for updated historic information as we celebrate this milestone in our history.

Who are the most influential people in the history of Becker College?
Becker College has enjoyed a rich history shaped by influential people whose ideas, discoveries, and leadership have contributed to the growth and development of our institution. Some of their stories are well known; others have been told less frequently yet the contributions of these individuals have been seminal in Becker’s rise as one of the most important educational institutions in the country.
The year 2013 will mark Becker’s 225th commencement ceremony. To celebrate this milestone, the College is looking to recognize the most influential people in the history of Becker College. This is the chance to nominate a Becker College student, alumnus/a, faculty member, trustee, or administrator who has had an impact on you, the College, the lives of others, and/or the world.
Qualifications: Candidates must be either a current student, alumnus/a, faculty member, trustee, or administrator of Leicester Academy, Leicester Junior College, Becker Junior College, or Becker College. A brief summary of the candidate’s qualifications must be provided to support each nomination.
